Today VSBC answers all things lip flip and lip filler! One of the most common questions we get is whether a client should proceed with a "lip flip" or "lip filler" and what in the world is the difference anyway?
Lip Flip
A "lip flip" uses neurotoxins AKA "Botox" to inject into the orbicularis oris muscle, which is the muscle that surrounds your lips. The toxin works to relax the effectiveness of that muscle causing a slight flip in the natural lip. This not only creates a subtle volume but it also hinders the ability of the muscle to pull the lip high and tight against the teeth causing a gummy smile. A lip flip will be a faster procedure than lip filler and does not use filler at all. Generally, a lip flip will take anywhere from two to seven days to start noticing results and last for a month or two.
Lip Filler
Lip filler uses dermal filler to shape and plump the lips. This technique adds significant volume and can help correct asymmetry. This technique is best suited for clients who are looking for longer lasting results and are wanting more overall volume in their lips and/or symmetry. Although this procedure takes longer- it also will last longer and not fade as quickly as a lip flip.
What to Expect?
For both of these procedures we start with a full consultation to discuss expectations, risks, benefits, and the appropriate approach that is best suited for each individual. We will go over product selection and appropriate technique. With any procedure you will want to expect some down-time that will include bruising and swelling- we recommend scheduling this service 2-4 weeks before any big event. A follow-up appointment will be scheduled at the time of service to ensure we've provided you with the absolute best results!!
